Pattern Editor shows a piano keyboard at its left hand edge to assist with note entry. This is commonly called a piano roll referring to the punched paper rolls that were used to play automatic pianos. Selecting ''Scale'' from the menu allows this to be changed to show just the notes of particular scales. All the black keys are removed and just white key representation of the selected scale remain. Scales include:

 +
* Chromatic (piano keybaord)
 +
* Major
 +
* Minor
 +
* Blues
 +
* Blues pentonic

Selecting ''Tonic'' fro the menu allows changing the key of the scale: C, C#, D, etc.

If the pattern is playing a percusion instrument such as drum kit then a drum map is also available and will be selected by default. This shows the names of the drum on each key.
