And you are right, it would be easier to assemble, but the resulting device wouldn't be so good. Longer cables means more EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference). The DSI signal coming out the RPi is specially noisy and although the DSI cable we use already include some EMI shielding, the audio circuitry is close, just a few centimeters and we prefer to reduce EMI to the minimum. Think that you assemble your zynthian once, but you (hopefully!) will use it for years and i'm pretty sure you want the highest quality of sound, so it's worth the little effort of connecting shorter cables.}}
