It depends a lot. Currently, building an official zynthian kit doesn't require soldering, only basic tinkering (pluging wires, screw-driving bolts, etc.). Also, official zynthian software should run out-the-box and you shouldn't need to use the command line. Anyway, being comfortable with Linux command line is a point for solving problems ...
